October 10, 2016 – Joliet, IL – The team at Associated Orthodontists is joining the American Association of Orthodontists and professionals across the nation in celebrating National Orthodontic Health Month. Each year, the month of October is dedicated to creating awareness about orthodontic health and care.

“Our practice offers much more than just straight teeth and brighter smiles,” said Dr. Michael Casey with Associated Orthodontists. “While a beautiful smile is a great benefit of orthodontic care, our patients also receive a myriad of health benefits from our treatments.”

Aside from that perfect smile, orthodontic care can help by decreasing the risk for the following:

  • Oral Disease: When teeth are not properly aligned, there are more areas where food and bacteria can collect – leading to increased plaque, cavities and risk for oral diseases.
  • Jaw Problems: Unaligned teeth can place undue stress on the jaw. This can lead to problems with the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ), as well as weakened teeth and an increased risk for chipped or broken teeth.
  • Injuries: When teeth are unaligned or protruding, the mouth and teeth are more prone to injury, especially when playing sports or participating in activities.

While most think of orthodontics as a “kid” thing, care is an option for patients of all ages. The team at Associated Orthodontists recommends that children are first evaluated at the age of 7, but patients can receive the benefits of care at any age. With advancements in technology, techniques and products, getting orthodontic care is more convenient and life changing than ever before.

Associated Orthodontists offers complimentary consultations for all new patients, and in some cases, treatment can start on the same day. In celebration of National Orthodontic Health Month, all new patients beginning treatment will receive a cook book with delicious, orthodontic-friendly recipes.

Associated Orthodontists has five convenient locations in Joliet, Plainfield, Morris, New Lenox, Frankfort and Bourbonnais. Please visit to find a location near you, and to schedule your complimentary consultation.
