Current and former patients awarded $1,000 scholarship

Associated Orthodontists is proud to announce the five winners for its 2022 Scholarship Program. The annual scholarship is open to all current and former patients that are graduating high school seniors with a GPA of at least 3.0 and received full braces at Associated Orthodontists.

A $1,000 scholarship to be applied directly to each winner’s tuition at a college, university, vocational training or technical school.

Submitted applications were reviewed by a panel at Associated Orthodontists, and were chosen based on submitted essays, academic achievements, and participation in school and community activities.

2022 Scholarship Winners

 Anthony Lizzio
Anthony is a senior at Joliet West High School and will be attending the University of St. Francis in the fall majoring in finance or accounting. This four-year High Honor Roll student is a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and has achieved several honors as a member of Joliet West’s Bowling Team, including SPC All-Conference Team, IHSA State Third Place Champion and IHSA All-State Bowling Team. Outside of school and sports, Anthony donates his time to Feed My Starving Children, the Illinois State Youth Leaders, his church youth group and student tutoring.

Grace Goodfellow
A resident of Beecher and student at Illiana Christian High School, Grace is looking forward to attending Indiana Wesleyan University after graduation, majoring in the sciences. She has been named to the High Honor Roll and is in the top 10% of her graduating class. Grace is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Team, Missions Club, Hydroponics Club, in addition to varsity soccer and Team AKA Karate. In her spare time, she volunteers at Alicia’s House Food Pantry, the Crete Church Youth Group, PAKT Karate, plus various mission trips throughout her high school years.

Grace Leeders
Grace is a senior at Joliet Catholic Academy and is a member of the National French Honor Society, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. Additionally, Grace is a recipient of the JCA Heritage Award and Thespian Award. Her other activities include JCA Drama Club, French Club, Student Ambassador, plus participation on the tennis team, spring musicals and dance. She also volunteers her time at the Channahon Park District and JCA tennis camp as a counselor, as well as Habitat for Humanity. Grace will be attending Mizzou in the fall, majoring in speech, language and hearing sciences.

Marla Hayes
A senior at Lincoln-Way Central High School, Marla’s academic achievements include membership in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and LWC’s honor roll. As a student-athlete, she is a four-year varsity track member and currently serves as the team’s captain. Marla has been named all-conference, all-sectional, all-state, plus has been the recipient of LWC’s Sportsmanship Award and the Joe Kruzich Award. She serves the student body and her community as a member of the LWC Link Crew, Interact Club, Knight Pride Leadership, Knightmares organizations and Parkview Church. This fall, Marla will be attending the University of Mississippi, majoring in business with a minor in Spanish.

Taylor Forillo
Taylor is a student at Minooka Community High School and is headed to the University of Missouri this fall. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and serves as president of the Interact Club — where she has spearheaded numerous successful projects to support local and international groups, including 575 Rise Above, Operation Christmas Shoebox  and Operation Gratitude. Taylor has also been named an ISAC State Scholar and Rotary Club Student of the Month, plus participates in the color guard, winter guard and Connection Crew.
