Associated Orthodontists Announces 2019 Scholarship Winners

Current and former patients awarded $1,000 scholarship

Associated Orthodontists is proud to announce the winners of its 2019 Scholarship Program. The annual scholarship is open to all current and former patients that are graduating high school seniors with a GPA of at least 3.0 and received full braces at Associated Orthodontists.Each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be applied directly to tuition at a college, university, vocational training or technical school.Applications were reviewed by a panel at Associated Orthodontists, and were chosen based on submitted essays, academic achievements, and participation in school and community activities.

2019 Scholarship Winners

Alyssa BlackAlyssa is currently a senior at Herscher High School, with plans to attend Olivet Nazarene University in the fall. She is a member of the marching band, soccer team, show choir, creative writing club, National Honor Society, ACES (academic challenge for students in Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) and an Illinois State Scholar. Additionally, Alyssa served as secretary for the National Honor Society, is an orchestra section leader and show choir dance captain. During her free time, she volunteers with Faith in Action, Ronald McDonald House, her church nursery and is a host at Swing & Sing.Emily LumingA student at Lincoln-Way Central High School, Emily is a member of the National Honor Society, MU Alpha Theta and an Illinois State Scholar. She will be attending Augustana College this fall, majoring in communication sciences and disorders. During her time at Lincoln-Way, she was a member of Best Buddies, the varsity badminton team, Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts, Treblemakers after school choir and served as a Writing Center tutor. Additionally, Emily volunteers for kids’ ministry at Hickory Creek Church.Emma BaxterEmma attends Joliet West High School and is a member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars and also serves as a Student Ambassador. Outside of school, she has volunteered numerous hours for the National Honor Society, Alpha Omega and the boys volleyball team. Additionally, Emma was a member of the Joliet West volleyball team and Team One Volleyball. This fall, she will be attending Clarkson University, majoring in biology.Erik RadakovichThis Plainfield South High School senior is undecided on his college plans for this fall, but has been accepted to the University of Michigan, Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin. Erik is the president of the National Honor Society and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, Math Team, Scholastic Bowl, Plainfield South Leadership Corp and an Illinois State Scholar. Additionally, Erik was a National Merit Scholar finalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. In his spare time, he works at Mathnasium as a math instructor and also tutors privately. Additionally, he volunteers his time at Feed My Starving Children, St. John’s Food Pantry, National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.Skylar JermolowiczSkylar attends Minooka Community High School and is looking forward to attending Illinois State University this fall. She is a member of choir, varsity madrigals, Essence jazz choir, the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, plus school musicals and fall plays. Additionally, she has volunteered numerous hours for Relay for Life, 55 and Better Dance, Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk and taught Spanish at local grade school and nursing homes.Annually, Associated Orthodontists awards five - $1,000 scholarships to current and former patients who are graduating high school seniors, received full braces at Associated Orthodontists and have a GPA of at least 3.0.
